JV2 - A framework for collaborative marking on ill-defined domains
Ill defined domains in education are evaluated using essays, lab reports and software programs among others. For massive courses with hundreds of students, marking is usually done in teams, which poses problems on the interpretation of a marking criteria previously defined. Collaborative activities are known to create a common knowledge that improves marking reliability. However, no collaborative marking tools are available to validate this idea.

JV5 - A framework for the semantic categorization of research questions and assertions
In research, a good literature review includes acknowledging the work of others. But how to know if a LR is complete? As no repositories to store a more semantic way to search for references exist, we waste invaluable time on searching again and again for the same set of papers someone already looked. We want to design and develop a framework to categorize references, not by title, author and references to other work, but by the assertions it makes. One example would be: Give me all the papers that assert that "writing enhances learning".
- Type: Master's thesis (Tesis de magíster).
- Research question: Does assertion categorization helps users on finding a set of relevant papers?
- Duration: 12 months
JV6 - Implementation of an enhanced security workflow for exams in a University environment
Exams are mostly taken in face to face proctored environments. However, given high rates of student intake in modern universities, a centralized center to create the final version of an exam are common. Security is one of the problems these centralized centers pose, because lecturers usually have to send an electronic copy of the exam in advance, making lecturers and staff's email passwords a very valuable prize for someone trying to obtain the exam before its date. We want to build a secure website that allows a lecturer to upload her exams with very high security standards.
- Type: Undergraduate thesis (Tesis de 5to año).
- Duration: 6 months
